Bath and toilet
To ensure that you achieve an oasis of wellbeing in your bath, you should consult an expert and plan your bathroom before you begin construction. This makes exact installation work easier and enables an optimal balance of functionality and architecture. Caution: Wellness is generally accompanied by higher energy consumption; therefore carefully select the equipment you install. To save energy and water, be sure to use water-saving faucets.
Bathtub
- A bathtub should be seated in a compact insulation body for thermal and sound insulation.
- The range of bathtubs on the market is nearly limitless: for one or two, with whirlpool system, etc.
- Faucets and fixtures: Here too there are numerous options.
Shower basin
- Optimal installed height of the shower basin: 4 - 8 cm for comfortable entry.
- Shower basin with 90 mm drain is recommended to enable use of easy-to-clean trap.
- Installation of a thermostat faucet is recommended.
- You can increase the pleasure of showering by installing auxiliary nozzles; however, these increase water consumption.
- Recommended width of shower basin: 90 cm.
Sink and furniture
- Especially for families, two sinks are recommended; plan together.
- Available materials range from ceramics to marble (sensitive) to Corian (robust). Corian can be used for both the sink plate and the sink in one piece for a seamless transition.
Faucets and fixtures
- Normally mounted inside walls.
- For constant temperature water in the shower, install a thermostat.
- For bathtubs, use a mixer or hot & cold water spigots.
- Hand shower heads are available with varying sprays and water-saving features.
- Fixture surfaces are available on the market in stainless steel, brass or mixed material in many colors.
- Water-saving fixtures include flow limiters, single-handle faucets, thermostat mixers and sensor-regulated fixtures.
A very practical feature that must be provided for in planning the bath (and/or bedroom) is a clothing shaft to aid family members in bringing their soiled clothing to the right place. A comfortable system must be childproof (locking) and should be installed in the raw construction phase.
Plan your bath thoroughly before you start construction.
