Office building of amsec

Software heats while the ground cools

Planning: AMS Engineering Sticht GmbH

In 2006, in cooperation with AMS Engineering, TISP Aufschließungs- and Betreibergesellschaft mbH built the office complex for amsec in Softwarepark Hagenberg (Upper Austria). In ca. 6500 m² of utilized space, the new building contains attractive offices, a modern event center, fully acclimatized server rooms, laboratories and workshops.

A particular aspect is that the building shell is designed so that the complete heating requirements are covered by the waste heat of the server rooms and other internal heat sources. Heat from the water-cooled server towers is fed directly into the activated cement components of the ceilings and outside walls. In the summer the offices and work areas are cooled via ground probes.

An automated control concept daylight reflection and shading systems ensures minimum energy consumption with optimal light. PC-based control engineering regulates the building’s energy with respect to comfort, energy utilization and costs on a personal basis.

A conventional office building has heating and cooling costs of 0.70 to 0.80 €/m² monthly. The amsec offices requires only one third of that.
