Ökotherm company building
Excess energy in Austria’s foggiest area
Planning:
Ökotherm Heiz- und Klimasysteme GmbH
Four different types of heat pumps (ground direct evaporation, ground water, depth drilling, air) and two controlled ventilation systems supply the offices and seminar rooms of the plus-energy building in Schörfling (Upper Austria) with warmer and fresh air.
The 25 kW photovoltaic system on the southwest façade of the building and 36 m² of thermal solar cells on the roof provide green power and warmth. The building’s cement foundation plate contains five circuits for cement core activation (storage and removal of solar energy as required). The solid brick wall of the overall building is insulated with 12 cm of heavy-duty insulation. The photovoltaic cells are mounted on the thermal insulation. Together, this achieves a comfortable room climate in the 1750 m² of utilized space. Excess solar energy is used for the whirlpool and for keeping the driveway free of snow.
