May 14, 2008 / ENERGY GLOBE Award
Alanis Morissette at ENERGY GLOBE Gala
The ENERGY GLOBE Award distinguishes extraordinary environmental projects. Over 1000 invited guests and billions of TV viewers worldwide look forward to this event.
The unique singer/songwriter Alanis Morissette will come to Brussels for the presentation of the world’s most prominent environmental award and will herself present songs from her new album, Flavors of Entanglement.
Committed environmentalist at ENERGY GLOBE Gala
The multiple Grammy winner from Ontario, Canada, resonates with the feelings of a whole generation in her songs. Morissette demonstrated her commitment to environmental consciousness in 2001 as she joined other artists in the New Power Project for sustainable environmental policy. Morissette is also an activist in her own right: She won the Global Tolerance Award, heats her pool with solar energy, and drives a hybrid auto.
Glamorous gala as a platform for sustainable projects
At the ENERGY GLOBE Gala Morissette will be supporting the dissemination of sustainable environmental ideas. The international environmental award will be presented on Monday, May 26 at the Plenary Hall of the EU Parliament. From over 800 submitted projects from all over the world, in a globally broadcast TV gala the best five environmental projects will be chosen in the five categories Water, Earth, Fire, Air and Youth. The glamorous gala, moderated by Desiree Nosbusch, will be broadcast by large television networks to billions of households worldwide and thereby forms a platform for creative and efficient projects aimed at protecting our Earth.
In addition to the French-Canadian Morissette, Dionne Warwick, Italian rocker Zucchero and Bollywood star Aamir Khan have confirmed their participation at the TV gala. Music fans should therefore reserve Mai 27 for the TW1 broadcast of this unparalleled evening (from 18:00 to 20:00 in English).
Worldwide political elite support the ENERGY GLOBE
The ENERGY GLOBE Gala weighs in politically as the only event broadcast from the Plenary Hall of the EU Parliament. High-ranking political figures such as EU Parliament President Hans-Gert Pöttering and EU Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso will participate in the gala. Likewise EU Council President Janez Jansa and former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan will serve as award presenters for the ENERGY GLOBE Award.
