ENERGY GLOBE sets new milestone
The facts are in: A sensational 800 projects from 111 nations have been submitted for this year’s ENERGY GLOBE Award. This magical number honors the World Award for Sustainability. ENERGY GLOBE founder Wolfgang Neumann is justifiably enthusiastic: “Since its founding 10 years ago, the ENERGY GLOBE Award has become THE global platform for ecological solutions the world over. For me this is the fulfillment of a dream!” The list of nations is more global and exotic than ever, including Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Eritrea, Mauretania, Sudan and Syria, to name but a few.
Clever ideas, wonderful technological achievements, initiatives bringing success for our environment, and ingenious and impressive implementations include: curtains that harvest energy from the sun, a solar-driven wheelchair, a photovoltaic rock stage, a fully ecological and mobile loft , power-generating artificial islands, and houses that are built completely of recycled materials.
Autumn launches the first round of the regional ENERGY GLOBE Awards in the Austrian provinces beginning on 4 September in Burgenland. 31 October will then premier Austria’s best-practice environmental projects at the Energy Globe Austria Gala in Wels. The Czech Republic will distinguish its best ecological achievements on 27 November in Brno. Other national ceremonies are planned in Germany and Portugal.
The deadline for submissions for ENERGY GLOBE 2008 has already passed. However, submissions are welcome for Energy Globe 2009. Further information is available at www.energyglobe.info.
