Project presentation - "Autonomous McDonald’s Franchise"
The energy efficiency McDonald’s restaurant – unique worldwide – was opened in April 2009. The background for this project was the goal of testing new technologies and alternative, environmentally friendly energy forms under full restaurant operating conditions for their suitability in practice and thereby to use energy efficiently in the future.
Those technologies that are proven will be transferred to other franchises. In addition to solar energy, alternative forms such as heat pumps and wind energy will be used.
The goal of the project is to reduce CO2 emissions and energy consumption. The project will be accompanied by the Eco-Institute Freiburg e.V., which will compile an energy and climate balance after one year of measurements.
